Rescheduled public meeting regarding Milburn Kendrick Conservation Reserve: cancelled
Rescheduled public meeting regarding Milburn Kendrick Conservation Reserve: cancelled
On March 26th, the Corporation of the County of Haliburton organized a public meeting regarding an application to the Province of Ontario by the Haliburton Highlands Land Trust for the creation of the proposed Milburn Kendrick Conservation Reserve.
The purpose of the meeting was to provide an opportunity for the public to present comments to County Council regarding the proposed creation of the conservation reserve within the Highlands Corridor, which would then be summarized and forwarded to the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks as feedback.
The meeting was postponed that morning and planned to be rescheduled.
According to the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks on April 14, the Ministry has reviewed the proposal and has decided not to proceed with the establishment of a new conservation reserve in this area. The Crown lands included in this proposal will continue to be managed by the Ministry of Natural Resources. Information about current uses for this area can be found on the Crown Land Use Policy Atlas.
As a result of this decision by the MECP, the public is advised the County of Haliburton will not be rescheduling the public meeting.

The County of Haliburton thanks the members of the public for their interest and comments regarding this matter.
