Halliburton County declares state of Local Emergency
Effective Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at 12:30 p.m. (ET), the County of Haliburton has declared a state of Local Emergency in accordance with the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act, R.S.O. 1990, c E.9 s.4 (1) due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The County of Haliburton is making this declaration as a proactive step for potential access to resources from other levels of government as this situation evolves, ensuring better preparedness for our community overall,” Liz Danielsen, County Warden.
At this time, the County is following the Province of Ontario’s recommendation with respect to facility closures. Essential services including paramedic services and road operations will continue to operate as usual to support our community.
The County’s administration office is closed for public entry, a measure taken in response to the recommendation for social distancing, for the protection of both the public and staff. County staff is available by phone during regular business hours at 705-286-1333 (local) or 1-844-366-4795 (toll free).
The County will continue to provide updates to the public and is in regular communication with local municipalities, Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit (HKPR), Public Health Ontario and local health care providers.
