Community Safety and Well-Being Youth Art Exhibition
Call for Entries
Through a partnership initiative between the County of Haliburton, Rails End Gallery, Limbic Collective, Haliburton Highlands Secondary School and Trillium Lakelands District School Board students, youth in Haliburton County are invited to express themselves as part of Safe and Well, an in-person and online art exhibition.
Haliburton County residents between the ages of 12 and 24 are asked to share their thoughts and concerns on one or all of the four identified priority areas of Haliburton County’s Community Safety and Well-Being Plan through artwork, photography, a digital piece or a piece of writing (including poetry):
- Housing and Homelessness;
- Poverty and Employment;
- Substance Use, Mental Health and Addiction;
- Healthcare and System Access OR
- on the broader subject of Community Safety and Well-Being
An in-person, student-led CSWB Art Exhibition (for TLDSB students) will take place at Haliburton Highlands Secondary School on May 10, 2023.
An online CSWB Art Exhibition (all entries) will launch on May 31, 2023 at the Rails End Gallery and Arts Centre.
Youth can connect with artists for support, guidance and fellowship while working on this project or others by contacting Limbic Collective at limbiccollective@gmail.com or visiting them at their studio space in Unit 4 of the Stedman’s Plaza on Highland Street in Haliburton.
Additionally, an optional CSWB survey will be available to exhibition participants or other youth aged 12 – 24 to offer feedback on our local Community Safety and Well-Being Plan, identified priorities, or the issues affecting them in Haliburton County.
