Parcel Notification

In this section the user will learn how to create a parcel notification mailing list so as to notify property owners of changes to a property in their

area, whether it effects the property owners or not using the ‘Parcel Notification’ map tool.

Parcel Notification Map Tool

The ‘Parcel Notification’ map tool is used to locate and select a property and using the selected property identify the properties that are

within a specific distance to generate a parcel notification mailing list.

 

How to open ‘Parcel Notification’ Map Tool

 

 This icon allows the user to open the ‘Parcel Notification’ map tool. To open the ‘Parcel Notification’ map tool, position

the cursor over the ‘Map’  menu and select the ‘Parcel Notification’ map tool as shown in Figure 9.0. The ‘Parcel Notification’

map tool will open as shown in Figure 9.1.

How to use the Parcel Notification Map Tool

 

The ‘Parcel Notification’ map tool allows a user to search by ‘Assessment Roll Number (ARN) or ‘Address’. The tools used by

the ‘Parcel Notification’ map tool are as follows:

 

 Select Parcel by ARN – This icon allows the user to search for a property by Assessment Roll Number (ARN).

 

 Select Parcel by Address – This icon allows the user to search for a property by street address.

 

 Located Parcel/Addresses – This icon allows the user to view the results of the located property and to specify a specific

distance in metres to select properties that intersect with the property.

 

 Parcels within search buffer – This icon allows the user to view the results of the properties that are selected within a specific

distance of the selected property.

 

 Minimize – This icon allows the user to minimize the ‘Parcel Notification’ map tool. To maximize or reopen the map  tool,

simply select the parcel notification  icon when the tool is minimized.

 

 Close – This icon allows the user to close the map tool.

 

 

Search by ARN

Follow the below steps to select by Assessment Roll Number (ARN).

 

1)     From the ‘Parcel Notification’ map tool shown in Figure 9.1 above, type the ARN in the field provided and select

the ‘Locate’ button. The results will appear in the ‘Located Parcel/Addresses’ results screen as shown in Figure 9.2.

 

Note: The information that will appear in the results screen is the name, mailing address and assessment roll number of

the property.

2)     Continue to step 4 to select the properties within a specific distance of the property selected.

 

 

                                Search by Street Address

3)     From the ‘Parcel Notification’ map tool, select the ‘Select Parcel by Address’  icon, type the street address in the

field provided as shown in Figure 9.3 and select the ‘Submit button. The results will appear in the ‘Located Parcel/Addresses’

results screen as shown in Figure 9.2 above.

Note: To return to the Assessment Roll Number search, simply select the ‘Select Parcel by ARN’  icon.

4)     From the ‘Locate Parcel/Addresses’ results screen shown in Figure 9.2 above, use the up or down arrow or simply enter

the desired distance in the field provided.

 

                                    Note: The map view will relocate to the location of the property selected, upon selecting the up or down arrows for setting the

distance. Or if the user clicks on the property selected in the `Locate Parcel/Addresses’ results screen the map view will reposition

to the property.

 

5)     Once the desired distance in metres is set, select the ‘Find Parcels’ button. This will locate and select the parcels in the map view

that are within the set distance, as well as display the results in the ‘Parcels within search buffer’ results screen shown in Figure 9.4.

 

Note: in order to reposition the map view in this instance using the ‘Re-center Map’  tool in the ‘Navigation’ menu, the user will need to

select the map view where there are no parcels selected.

6)     Select the ‘Save Results (.csv)’ button to save the results in a comma separated  variable (CSV) format. This will save the results of

the properties that are within the set distance of the original selected parcel, including the original parcel.

 

7)     The CSV file can then be opened in Microsoft excel and saved as an excel file, which will then be opened in Microsoft word so that the

user can create a mail merge to send notification to the property owners that may or may not be effected due to changes to the original

property selected.
