The County of Haliburton wishes to provide a clean, healthy and pristine environment to residents and visitors of our many natural, historic and cultural attractions.
The County of Haliburton recognizes that many private citizens and volunteer groups share the desire to maintain and promote an attractive vacation community.
Therefore, the County of Haliburton supports and promotes an “Adopt-A-Road” program. The “Adopt-A-Road” program is administered by the County and its purpose is to remove litter from the County owned roadside ditches.
Individuals and groups may apply as an “Adopt-A-Road” sponsor. As an “Adopt-A-Road” sponsor, the individual or group would scour the roadside ditches and collect any litter that may have accumulated. The County of Haliburton requires all participants to sign an agreement stating that such individual or group will carry out pick up duties a minimum of twice annually for a three year period.
Each participant (individual or group) may apply for any section of any County Road; however, they may be requested to consider an alternate location in the event there are a number of applicants for each section. Each participant must be (or be supervised by a person) at least 19 years of age.
The “Adopt-A-Road” program is explained in detail on this website under “Adopt-A-Road Program Litter Control Agreement” and “Safety Guidelines for Participants of the Adopt-A-Road Program”. A list of County Roads is also available for applicants to choose from for participation in the program.
